Pre-school: the independent years
The Shahid Mahdavi Educational Complex is the first school in the country to use the Montessori method. We chose the Montessori early childhood program because we felt in harmony with its philosophy of holistic education that recognizes the natural growth stages of children and their innate love for learning. Emphasis is placed on creating an enriched environment that evokes the warmth and nurture of home while providing a wide range of stimulating experiences. As a result, our children learn thanks to a friendly but serious curriculum which leads to high academic results.
Based on the observations and long experience of renowned educator Maria Montessori, this method insists in particular on the necessity to “follow the child”, which means helping children to discover the world around them according to the needs and speed of their nature. Since children of this age have a natural interest for sensory experiments and practical-life activities, the Montessori classroom has been designed to facilitate concrete work and interactions in a wonderful environment where children are guided to grow by themselves.
We complement our pre-school program with a comprehensive English curriculum because studies show that children have great aptitude for learning a second language in the pre-school years. As a result, our children spend half of their school time with a qualified English teacher and take their first steps towards intercultural openness. This international approach is accompanied by a religious program familiarizing our children with stories from the Qur’an.
