Grade 6 Exhibition, Performance and Graduation Ceremony.

On Monday 10th June the school celebrated our Grade Six Graduates with an exhibition of their work and a stage performance for the parents and families. This was followed by a Graduation ceremony and presentation of certificates.

We are very proud of all our grade six girls and wish them the very best of luck as they fly our nest for foreign lands and carry the Mahdavi name with them.

21st & 22nd April, 2013

This week our whole school visited the Science and Astronomy Centre of Tehran. This is a very interesting, hands-on facility geared towards school children, although it is open to the public too.

On Sunday our Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2 visited and had a picnic lunch afterwards in the beautiful gardens. On Monday our grades 3 - 6 made the same trip. Their enthusiasm for everything they had seen and learned was very rewarding.

We congratulate all our teachers on the success of this exhibition, without such great people it would not have been possible.

16thApril, 2013

Dear Parents,
We have now been back at school for more than a week and the students are very busy working on various projects and their fifth Unit Of Inquiry.
Grades 3, 4 and 5 are working on their science projects for the School Exhibition which takes place on 26th and 27th April.
Meanwhile Grade 6 is working on the PYP Exhibition and final performance, which will take place towards the end of June.
Grades 1 and 2 are busy working on their U.O.I.s  and have all become avid readers.
The Vacation Journals which the children wrote during the holidays were amazing and very entertaining.
We have two field trips next week.  We are taking the whole school to the Science and Astronomy Centre of Tehran.  On Sunday our Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 will be going and on Monday Grades 3 to 6. The visit will be followed by a picnic and games.
Regards,
Ms.P.May

...................................................................................................

Dear Parents,

Children are extremely vulnerable to their environment and to people in their lives to whom they feel close. Sometimes things happen at home, especially among the adult members of the family, which may disturb or confuse children. Perhaps there was a quarrel, a discussion of financial difficulties, an illness or unexpected visitors. These things might create tension – tension to which children react.
Tension-creating incidents are not necessarily unpleasant ones. Perhaps someone is planning a trip, or the family is making plans for welcoming visitors, or new furniture is arriving, or the carpenter is coming to make some alterations. Perhaps there are preparations for a big dinner party. These things may cause children to be emotionally keyed up and may cause them to react more quickly and negatively to otherwise normal incidents. It may be that the tension-creating incident was a very minor thing to you – missing carkeys, a rush to make a 9:00am appointment, the toast burned three times in a row! You might even have exclaimed over the latest newspaper headlines or complained because the newspaper wasn't even delivered.
Whatever the incident, you may have unwittingly imparted unusual feelings of tension to your child. You may have dealt with your own tensions by being short-tempered, overly stern or even by spanking.
It might not have been anything anyone else did at all. Children can become upset (just as we sometimes do) over the colour of the only clean shirt there is to wear or a hole in a favourite pair of socks. It is difficult enough to understand the workings of someone else's mind – but it is especially difficult to understand the minds of children. We do know, however, that their feelings, tensions and emotions are real.
We are striving to promote an underlying atmosphere of serenity throughout our school. You can help us.
If you notice that your child seems unusually tense or if you know that there was indeed an unpleasant or stressful situation in the home, please let us know. We prefer that you don't talk about it in front of your child. You can write a brief note, call us by phone or talk to us privately at school. Needless to say, the information you give us will remain strictly confidential.
We will try to use all information to understand your child's needs, to help restore her lost composure and to calm anxieties. We will appreciate all the help you can give us in trying to make each new school day an exciting, fulfilling, joyful experience for your child. It is our goal to send your child home each day feeling relaxed and fulfilled. Please know that we are eager to be of assistance in whatever way is needed.
Very sincerely,
Ms. Pamela May
Principal

Parent Orientation Meetings

The students welcomed their parents to the school in order to familiarize them with the school environment. This was an opportunity for parents to meet the teachers and tour our excellent facilities.

.......................................................................................................
Parent/Teacher meetings

The parent/teacher meetings will be held on Thursday, 11th October. We hope all parents will be able to attend these important meetings. Your child will be bringing home letters this week giving you exact times for your appointments. Each parent will be allocated a 20 minute meeting time with the teacher so I do urge you to arrive before your appointment time in order for the teachers to begin each meeting on time.
